Slaves revolted against European colonial forces in Haiti in 1801, and as a result Tussainte Lovartur became the ruler of France. Whereas in France, Napoleon declared himself to be the ruler of the country for a lifetime and thought of occupying Haiti.
He sent thousands of soldiers to fight but could not fight Yellow Fever. It is estimated that about 50 thousand soldiers were killed and only 3 thousand could survive.
