Government agrees on promise of running metro rail in big cities
Focusing on smooth and fast traffic system in big cities of Uttar Pradesh, the government has proposed Rs 644 crore to speed up metro rail projects in Kanpur and Agra.
A provision of Rs 200 crore has been made for metro or light metro in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Meerut and Jhansi. In the budget, a provision of 358 crores has been made for the metro in Kanpur and Rs 2861 crores for Agra in the budget.
Similarly, a provision of Rs 900 crore has been made for speedy completion of the regional rapid transit system between Delhi-Meerut.
